In Japan, facsimile
communication over subscriber telephone lines became
possible when Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Public
Corporation, (a government owned corporation that
was later privatized and is currently known as NTT)
released its lines for such purposes in 1972. The
following year, Murata Machinery obtained the first
ever product certification from the corporation with
its "dex180".
Since then, for the past
thirty plus years, the company has continued its R&D
efforts in the IT realm to produce business
facsimile machines and digital MFPs (Multi Function
Peripherals) that have the functionalities of a
facsimile, a copier, a printer, and a scanner in a
single body frame.
